Touch Typing Tips
Support your child to be their own teacher and self-monitor their learning. The success of keyboarding is determined largely by the child taking the responsibility and discipline to become a better typist.
As your child is practicing their typing at home please make sure they are using the correct keys. Students should always start with their fingers on the home row keys (as shown below). To achieve the best overall results your child should take their time and learn where all the keys are. As accurate typing skills develop, speed and efficiency will increase with practice.
- sit up as straight as possible
- have the top of the monitor at eye level
- keep your wrists straight
- take frequent breaks
