Maple Welcomes Incoming Assistant Prinicpal

With the retirement of Mrs. Betty Holzkopf after serving 9 years as Maple assistant principal and 32 years in education, District 30 initiated a search in winter 2023 to fill this critical leadership role for the school. We received 72 qualified applicants. Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Melissa Hirsch, screened 20 high-quality individuals. A set of three committees – students, parents and teachers, led by Principal Sam Kurtz – then interviewed six talented candidates. From that pool, Ms. Angela Jaeger emerged as an excellent fit for Maple.

At our March 16 meeting, the Board formally approved Ms. Jaeger as Maple’s next assistant principal. She will begin her service on August 1 and joins the District 30 Family with a wealth of experience, most recently from Bennett Day School in Chicago, where she has served as a grades 9-12 English Teacher and as the school’s English Department Chair.

Ms. Jaeger possesses over 15 years of educational experience, she is proficient in Spanish and has taught in the American School in Japan. She holds a bachelor and master of arts in English literature from the University of Chicago and a master of arts in education leadership from Concordia University. She is looking forward to joining the District 30 Family!

In her free time, Ms. Jaeger enjoys spending time with her husband and 5-year-old son, avid travel, reading, and learning new languages.

“I am excited and honored to be joining the dynamic and dedicated team at Maple school,” Ms. Jaeger said. “I am eager to collaborate with the staff, students, and parents to continue the work of building community and belonging. Go Mustangs!”

We have confidence that Ms. Jaeger will be a valuable addition to Maple School and look forward to her joining us August 1!
