Wescott PTO's Helping Hands are Full of Activity During Holiday Season!

Wescott's Helping Hands Committee, with Chair Nisa Rajani, is ending 2019 with a final activity called Cards for Hospitalized Children. They are working with staff to make cards with the children. If families would like to make cards at home and bring them, that would also be greatly appreciated.

Recap of fall activities coordinated by the Helping Hands Committee

"The Helping Hands Committee is grateful for all the support from the school community. It has been an amazing year of giving so far and we wanted to thank you. The Backpacks with Books drive was a great success. We surpassed our goal to amass 1,000 books and collected almost 1,300 books over a week. Bernie's Book Bank was extremely grateful. The organization will be able to serve 150 children this year. Mrs. Jennings’ first-grade class won the Knex set as they collected 280 books. We also received about 50 backpacks," said Ms. Rajani.

"For the coat drive, coats were delivered to the children at the Luther Burbank Elementary School in Chicago, just before Thanksgiving. It was a heartwarming experience to see eighth-graders come down and help carry the multiple bags. Mrs. Fortune, the assistant principal at Burbank, says that they always welcome Wescott's efforts and the children really appreciate our kindness," she added.
