Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley to Retire June 30, 2023
On Thursday, April 14, 2022, the Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 Board of Education accepted Dr. Wegley’s retirement effective June 30, 2023.
Board of Education President Nancy Artz shared:
Dr. Wegley began his tenure as the District 30 Superintendent when I started my first term on the Board of Education in 2015. His leadership has been critical in the success of key district projects - building the new Maple School building, completing the Elementary Capacity Project, and navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond these major accomplishments, Dr. Wegley has exemplified our Echo: “District 30 exists to create a community that craves learning, fosters resiliency, and cares deeply for every child.” His emphasis on working collaboratively and keeping us all focused on the District’s key goals have made a major impact during his time here.
The Board appreciates Dr. Wegley’s advance notice of his retirement and will interview search firms this spring to help our Board identify our next superintendent by December 2022. Dr. Wegley and the work of his administrative team leave a lighthouse district that will continue to guide our path forward.
Dr. Wegley reflected:
It is bitter-sweet to announce my retirement after 35 years in Education. It has been an honor and incredibly rewarding to serve our community for 25 of those years, my last eight at District 30. I will remain committed to District 30 and the most important profession on the planet until my last day of service on June 30, 2023. I am beyond grateful to be ending my career as the Superintendent of District 30!
District 30’s warm and caring culture has motivated and sustained me. I value the relationships I have formed and am incredibly proud of all that our Board, leadership team, and staff have accomplished together! Collectively, all deserve the credit for the progress we have made in District 30 during my tenure.
Of all that we have accomplished, I am most appreciative that we have remained united, keeping our students at the center of our decision-making, especially during the challenging global pandemic. Our staff has been heroic! They have gone way above and beyond for the past two years. In addition, our parents’ deep value of education has benefited our talented students. I have immense respect for our entire District 30 Family!
I also relish District 30’s drive for collaborative continuous improvement, which has been reinforced by our strong teaching teams. Our efforts will continue to incorporate social-emotional learning in the classroom, which was necessary before the pandemic, and is even more essential now.
District 30 holds a special place in my heart! I look forward to a great year ahead with much to accomplish and will support our Board in ensuring a smooth transition for our next superintendent.
District 30 has an incredibly bright future. Our committed Board of Education and strong finances provide a great foundation. Even more importantly, our community values education and is blessed with exceptional staff and students. Together, we create a fantastic place for our kids to grow up!
