Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley's Weekly Update - October 1, 2021

Dear District 30 Family,

We had another great week of school! SHIELD testing illuminated one positive COVID-19 diagnosis this week. Thank you to everyone who continues to participate, and we are fortunate to have this additional layer of mitigation within our schools.

Included here are a few notes as we continue this journey together:

Updated Cook County Travel Guidance: The Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) has adopted last week’s updated travel guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). Look for CCDPH to update their website soon. The new CCDPH/IDPH guidance continues to recommend limiting travel for unvaccinated individuals. However, following travel within the United States, CCDPH/IDPH now recommends that unvaccinated students immediately return to school and receive a negative COVID-19 test 3 to 5 days after travel. Unvaccinated students who participate in SHIELD testing can utilize SHIELD results to meet this recommendation. As always, please notify your school nurse of any positive COVID-19 test. Thank you for limiting non-essential travel for unvaccinated students and remaining safe when it is needed. Individuals who need to travel should continue to self-monitor their health for a full 14 days following travel.

School Support: Please don’t hesitate to reach out for help through our teaching staff should the need arise. Remaining connected and accessing the many resources in our community is a strength.

Thank you for your continued support, and have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Dr. Brian K. Wegley
