Summer School Begins for the First Time at the New Maple School!

Over 350 District 30 students are attending Summer School for the first time since the new Maple School was built two years ago! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no Summer School in 2020. Classes are held Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-12:25 p.m.

Principal Eleni Lamson, Assistant Principal Ashley Grossheusch, and Secretary Nancy Lifshitz are the staff members responsible for Summer School and can be contacted at the Maple School office at 847-400-8900. The nurse for Summer School is Ms. Loftus.

Classes are being held for PreK-8th grade and are divided into three floors, from youngest to oldest. There is plenty of space for all to navigate safely throughout the school. District 30 Families are registered for In-Person Learning and Remote Learning, and the students are placed into grade-level PODs for In-Person Learning.

Remote Learning students chose from selected online courses. Remote classes include the following: Getting Ready for First and Second Grade: Students are taking part in a variety of activities including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Art projects, fun with music, and physical activities are also part of this class.

Third-fifth grade Remote classes include Elementary Spanish, Elementary Mandarin, Design with Code, Math, Calling All Authors, and Orchestra (4th-5th). Sixth-eighth grade Remote classes offered: Middle School Spanish and Mandarin, STEM Climate Action Project, Design with Code, Sign-Language, Orchestra, Band, and Reading, Writing, and Math.

In-Person Learning classes underway for PreK-8 include Reading and Storytime, Little Picassos, Phun with Phonics, Leaps and Beats, Ready for First-Grade, Under the Sea, Sunrise Yoga, Children's Theater, Primary Science, Dino Dig, Science Explorations, Reading and Writing, Math, All Sorts of Sports, Paper Sculpture, Art with the Masters, Fitness Circuit Training, Science Challenges, Orchestra, and Band.
