Wescott Welcomes First Assistant Principal

Wescott Welcomes First Assistant Principal

With the alignment of Kindergarten to our neighborhood school philosophy and growing enrollment to over 500 students, it was determined that an assistant principal was needed at Wescott School. After strategically planning to add this position, it was approved as part of next year’s staffing plan and posted on January 21. We received 47 qualified applicants and screened 18 high-quality individuals. A Wescott committee led by Dr. Chris Brown interviewed six high-quality candidates from that pool, and Ms. Kathryn Compagno emerged as an excellent fit for Wescott.

At our March 17 meeting, the Board formally approved Ms. Kathryn Compagno as Wescott’s first assistant principal. She will begin her service in the fall and joins the District 30 Family with a wealth of experience, most recently from Niles West High School as their student activities director (80%) and math teacher (20%). She has twelve years of educational experience and is excited to join us!

Ms. Compagno shared, “I am excited to be joining the Wescott and District 30 family.  Thank you to the Board of Education, Dr. Wegley, and Dr. Brown for your faith in me as your new Assistant Principal. After speaking with the interview committee, it was clear to me that I wanted to be a part of the positive student-centered culture and climate that exists in this District. I am ready to continue the work this fall.”

We have confidence that Ms. Compagno will be a valuable addition to our family and look forward to her joining us in the fall!

Sincerely,

Dr. Chris Brown
Wescott Principal
