Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley's Welcome Letter for the 2021-22 School Year

Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley's Welcome Letter for the 2021-22 School Year

Dear District 30 Parents,

We are excited to kick off the 2021-22 school year! On behalf of the District 30 Board of Education and staff, I extend a warm welcome to all within our District 30 Family. District 30 exists to create a community that craves learning, fosters resiliency, and cares deeply for every child. We benefit from an invested Board of Education, talented administrators and staff, and outstanding students!

Please be sure to review the 2021-22 ePacket. The ePacket contains valuable information for the upcoming school year. For students with completed registrations, classroom teacher assignments at Wescott and Willowbrook Schools will be available via the Parent Portal by noon on Thursday, August 26, with advisory/locker assignments at Maple School accessible by noon on Monday, August 23.

Our Elementary Capacity Project continues to progress. We can’t wait for our students to benefit from our increased flexible spaces, new gym, and eight additional elementary classrooms that will serve Wescott and Willowbrook well!

We share incredible pride for having navigated last year’s challenges together. We are not out of this yet, but the challenges we have overcome together demonstrate our resiliency and commitment to each other and our students. I thank all of you for your positive engagement throughout this time. Our collaboration and relationships remain one of our greatest strengths.

Our health and safety protocols will support full in-person instruction as we find ways to bring rich, child-centric learning to life, a hallmark of District 30. We are confident that we will creatively navigate these times as we work our way back to normalcy. Success this year will require agility, flexibility, and commitment to each other. As has been the case throughout this pandemic, mitigation strategies could change with health recommendations and metrics. As plans evolve, District 30’s Return to School website will be updated. Please note that visitors to the building will be limited, and our check-in procedure will verify vaccination until further notice. Also, look for school-specific operational information from each building principal as plans are finalized.

Welcome again to the 2021-22 school year. We will be at our best when we continue to stand together. Our kids will follow our lead, and they will also demonstrate their resiliency. We look forward to getting through this together.

Sincerely,

Dr. Brian K. Wegley
Superintendent of Schools
