Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley's Weekly Update - October 29, 2021

Dear District 30 Family,

We had another great week of school!

Included here are a few notes as we continue this journey together:

Vaccination Opportunities for Children Ages 5-11: We continue to work on vaccination opportunities for children ages 5-11, for which authorization is anticipated by early November at the former Grainger Property at 1657 Shermer Road, Northbrook. We have worked with the Villages of Glenview and Northbrook to establish tentative Jewel-Osco child-friendly 5-11 vaccination clinics from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 11 (second vaccination on December 2), and Wednesday, November 17 (second vaccination on December 8). We encourage all individuals who have access to the vaccine to get vaccinated. Look for additional information next week!

The Village of Glenview Announces Plan to Conclude Glen TIF: District 30 joins other impacted jurisdictions in applauding the Village of Glenview’s announcement of plans to conclude The Glen TIF (Tax Increment Financing) at the end of 2021. District 30 has planned on the conclusion of The Glen TIF since its creation in 1998. Read more here.

Halloween Safety: With 5 to 11 year-olds on the verge of vaccination opportunities, please continue to commit to our full in-person learning throughout Halloween. Outdoor activities remain the safest option with masking indoors and when social distancing can’t be maintained.

Community Support - Join us on November 15: Remaining connected and accessing the many resources in our community is a strength. Please review the Support for Students section of our Return to School website. I also want to put an upcoming event on your radar. CATCH will partner with the GBN Boys Lacrosse Team and Northfield Township Schools to put on Stigma Buster - Silent No More virtually with Coach Mark Potter on Monday, November 15, at 7:00 p.m. This valuable program targets parents and students from 7th-grade and up. Coach Potter and his wife will share their journey through depression to help to understand that this illness can impact us all. Please register for this event! As a community, we need to continue to generate support and pull depression out of the dark!

School Support: Please don’t hesitate to reach out for help through our teaching staff should the need arise. Remaining connected and accessing the many resources in our community is a strength.

Thank you for your continued support, and have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Dr. Brian K. Wegley
Superintendent
