Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley's Weekly Update - April 16, 2021

Dear District 30 Family,

I hope that you had a great week. We continue to sincerely appreciate your partnership throughout this year.

This week’s Glenview/Northbrook COVID-19 Task Force Meeting included all governmental agency leaders from the township. I am thankful for our ongoing intergovernmental collaboration across our villages. You can read the latest task force communication that advocates for all of us to commit to getting vaccinated when the opportunity arises and following CDC’s recommendations. On that note, one of our 2nd-grade students made us proud by advocating Everybody Should Get Vaccinated as highlighted in  Patch, Glenview Journal & Topics, and on WGN this week!

Included below are a few notes as we continue this journey together:

Registration: Our 2021-22 School Year will officially begin on Thursday, September 2, 2021. As we look forward to next year, we anticipate mitigation strategies to continue with a return to more normal operations with Willowbrook PreK-5, Wescott K-5, and Maple 6-8. We are planning for daily in-person programming for all students. In addition, the Illinois State Board of Education currently expects a remote option for “families of students who are at increased risk of severe illness” with the support of a doctor’s note. Registration information will be mailed next week. To assist us with our sectioning and planning, families will be asked to submit at least the first registration form, Student Learning Status for the 2021-22 School Year, for each student by May 7.

Valuable CATCH Presentation: District 30 is joining District 27, District 28, and District 31, in partnership with CATCH for Enough with the Consequences on May 4th at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Ross Green, who will present valuable insights on “a more peaceful approach to family life through collaboration and problem-solving.” We highly recommend this program for our staff and parents and believe you will learn about long-term parenting strategies and gain insights to help you through this year!

School Support: Please don’t hesitate to reach out for help through our teaching staff if and when the need arises. Remaining connected and accessing the many resources in our community is a strength.

I look forward to continuing our partnership as we care for our students and each other. Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

Dr. Brian K. Wegley
