Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley's Weekly Update - March 26, 2021

Dear District 30 Family,

I hope that you and your family had a great week.

Area COVID-19 rates in Northfield Township and Region 10 rose a bit this week. We still hope to return to a downward trend. Please continue to respect the risks this virus poses by wearing masks and social distancing when you gather with anyone outside your household.

Included below are a few notes as we continue this journey together:

Standing Together: District 30 benefits from, celebrates, and values the diversity of our community. We have remained united throughout this crisis that has generated a rise in harassment and violence against the Asian American community. We are proud to be part of a community that cultivates inclusivity and recognizes that we all play a role in upholding our Prevention of and Response to Bullying policy

We denounce prejudice and violence toward any group or individual. Every day, we live by the tenants of Character Counts, including the pillars that encourage us to be respectful, caring, and fair, as we take responsibility for standing up for what is right. Thank you for continuing to stand together and to stand up for every member of our community.

Return to School Protocols After Spring Break: If you traveled over Spring Break, please be sure that you completed our travel survey and review our return-to-school protocols in your school’s weekly flyer or the Travel Guidance email that you received. Also, note a few states’ statuses of a few states changed in Chicago’s Travel Order on Tuesday, March 23. If you traveled out of the State of Illinois, be sure to review the updated travel order and the Travel Guidance contained within our Parent Phased Operations FAQs.

RUVNA Updates: When we return from Spring Break, please read the RUVNA questions carefully. Changes to the travel question have been incorporated.

School Support: Please don’t hesitate to reach out for help through our teaching staff if and when the need arises. Remaining connected and accessing the many resources in our community is a strength.

I look forward to continuing our partnership as we care for our students and each other.

Warmly,

Dr. Brian K. Wegley
Superintendent
