Character Education

Social-emotional learning and character education are key elements of our Strategic Plan, aiming to cultivate a safe, positive and engaging climate of belonging in our schools and community.

Our approach is multi-faceted and includes initiatives like:

• Promoting the Character Counts! Six Pillars of Character (trustworthiness; respect; responsibility; fairness; caring; citizenship) through efforts like Maple TRRFCC program and Willowbrook's Character Counts Awards
• Our RULER program
• Classroom lessons led by social workers in each of our schools
• Annual school themes in our elementary schools that promote kindness through actions like service projects; displays throughout the schools; and lessons that weave in the theme
