Speech/Language Screenings

All Kindergarten and 2nd grade students will be screened in the Winter by one of the District 30 Speech and Language Pathologists. Kindergarten students will be screened in the areas of: receptive and expressive language, articulation, fluency and voice. All 2nd grade students will be screened for articulation only, and language screenings will be available per parent request. Also, all students who are new to Willowbrook, will be screened shortly after their first attendance day. Parents will be notified if their child does not pass the screening. If there is a need for your child’s skills to be further assessed or if it would be beneficial for him or her to receive speech/language services, you will be notified by one of the Speech and Language Pathologists. Additionally, there are some areas of articulation that may not be addressed until a child is older.  If your child is one who we would like to re-screen at a later date, we will let you know via a letter. If you have any questions about the screenings or you have concerns about your child’s communication skills, please contact Lisa Netzly or Sandi Rabin, at (847) 400-8826 or via e-mail: lnetzly@district30.org or srabin@district30.org.

We will conduct speech and language screenings for preschool students as well. If you would like to schedule a screening for your preschool child, please contact Mary Lynn Petty at 847-498-8964

In general, if you have a concern about your child's speech and/or language skills, please contact Mrs. Netzly or Mrs. Rabin, and we will be happy to screen your child.

I look forward to a great year!!
