Wind Chill Advisory Protocols

Wind Chill Advisory Protocols

The Chicago area is under a "wind chill advisory" this morning.  This letter is a reminder of District 30's emergency cold day protocols and building evacuation plan.

The Northfield Township school districts have adopted the following emergency cold day protocols:

Snow related closures will generally be made by 6:00 AM of any given school day. School will be closed when there is a Wind Chill Warning (typically issued when the wind chill will be -30 degrees or colder AND the wind speed is 10 mph or greater, OR the actual temperature is -15 degrees or colder).
School will be open, with safety measures enacted, when there is a Wind Chill Advisory.

In the event of a fire alarm, we will exit the building according to the procedures we drill three times per year.  However, the Principals and custodians will work to quickly determine the source of the fire alarm/smoke detector.  If we feel there is a false alarm, we will bring the students back into the gym and I will meet the fire department at the front drive.  If not, we will move the students and staff to the Park District Field House.

Please check with the front office, if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you very much and stay warm!
