2017 Preschool Screening Schedule

Preschool Screenings Take Place on April 20

The last District 30 Preschool Screenings of the school year will take place on April 20, 2017. The screening process is designed to identify preschool age children (3-5 years old) who may benefit from special education support prior to kindergarten. Five developmental areas are included in the screening: communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal-social.

These areas will be assessed after your child has passed a hearing and vision screening. The developmental screening takes about one hour to complete and is conducted by the school district’s speech-language pathologist, psychologist, occupational therapist, social worker, and school nurse. Parents are encouraged to stay with their child throughout the screening.
To verify District 30 residency and make an appointment for a screening, please call Mary Lynn Petty at 847-400-8964. Residents should register for the April 20 screenings by April 13. For more information about preschool screenings, please contact Lauren Schulman, the District 30 Director of Student Services, at 847-498-4190. Additionally, if you have any concerns about your child who is under 3 years old, please contact Mary Lynn Petty (847-400-8964) or Lauren Schulman (847-498-4190) for more information.
