Preschool Screenings Takes Place on February 2, 2017
Preschool Screenings for children ages three to five who may benefit from special education support prior to kindergarten; and live within District 30 boundaries will be held at Willowbrook School throughout the 2016-2017 school year. District 30 families who would like to have their child screened may make an appointment for the next available screening date, which will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Willowbrook School, 2500 Happy Hollow Road, Glenview. Preregistration should take place by January 24. The last screening of the school year will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2017.
The screening process is designed to identify preschool age children (3-5 years old) who may benefit from special education support prior to kindergarten. Five developmental areas are included in the screening: communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal-social. These areas will be assessed after your child has passed a hearing and vision screening. The developmental screening takes about one hour to complete and is conducted by the school district’s speech-language pathologist, psychologist, occupational therapist, social worker, and school nurse. Parents are encouraged to stay with their child throughout the screening.
