Dr. Wegley Attends PTO Meeting to Discuss Facility Bond Referendum

Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley attended Maple School's February 2 PTO meeting, to explain facts pertaining to Northbrook/Glenview School District 30's upcoming facility bond referendum. On Tuesday, December 13, 2016, the Board of Education met at Maple School, and voted "unanimously" to support the Citizens' Task Force recommendation to place the facility plan proposal on this spring's ballot. It would fund construction of a new middle school to replace the existing 67-year-old Maple School; and health/life safety upgrades at Wescott and Willowbrook Schools would be addressed.

The Resolution provides for and requires the submission of the proposition of issuing $36,300,000 School Building Bonds to the voters of the School District Number 30, Cook County Illinois, at the Consolidated Election to be held on the 4th day of April 2017. The last day to register for the Consolidated General Election is on Tuesday, March 7. This election is held for the election of Municipal, Park District, Library District, School District and Fire District Officials. Go to www.cookcountyclerk.com

Three renderings of the master facility plans were displayed at the meeting, detailing the proposed replacement of Maple School. Dr. Wegley discussed facts about what would transpire if the referendum is approved, verses what would take place if it is not approved by the community. He talked about the recent resident survey responses regarding facility plan proposals; and encouraged PTO members to stay informed, by viewing a video tour and keeping current on facilities planning updates at www.district30.org and www.d30facilities.org
