New Teacher Induction Held August 15-17

New Teacher Orientation is took place August 15-17, at the District offices with Learning Enhancement Coordinator, Nadine Lee.

The purpose of this Orientation and Mentoring Program, which is supported by Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Melissa Hirsch, is to provide a structured program of support throughout the first two years of employment in District 30.

This includes meetings with a seasoned mentor, workshops on relevant educational topics, and opportunities for observation and reflection. The first day highlighted the orientation program, and new teachers took a bus tour through Northbrook and Glenview.  Mentors will be helping new teachers prepare for the first day and first week of school.

Sweet Welcome for New Staff during Orientation

Thirteen new teachers had a sweet welcome that included cupcakes and lemonade during District 30's annual New Teacher Orientation Days, which are being held August 15-17.

For the second year-in-a-row, a group of industrious Willowbrook School students set-up a lemonade stand on Happy Hollow Road and Brian Drive. They greeted staff members with big smiles while they held up a hot pink welcome sign. It was clearly evident that everyone enjoyed the cool, sweet drink and meeting the children. Funds raised from the lemonade stand will be donated to Lurie Children's Hospital.

Completing a very sweet morning, back at the District offices, cupcakes were served in honor of a new teacher's birthday!
