We Welcome Your Input about Food Service at District 30 Schools!

Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 contracts the
management of its food services to a third-party provider.
At this time, the district is conducting a review of the food
service program in preparation of obtaining bids for the start
of the 2018-19 school year.

This parent survey, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/d30foodsurvey, will help ensure the district’s food service provider will meet the expectations
of our school community. Thank you for taking the time to
read through these questions and providing your important feedback.

Board of Education Recap

2017-2018 Budget Approved by Board on September 13

Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley's report on the Board of Education Budget Hearing and business meeting, which was held on September 13

Staffing Changes Approved

The Board officially hired Julie Molay as a fourth-grade teacher at Wescott and Nicole Schramm as our District Office Accounting Coordinator. We welcome them to our family.

The Board also accepted the resignations of Instructional Assistants Kelsey Davis and Michelle Miller along with Lucy Kloss as of September 22, and Joe Warnstedt as of September 29. We thank all of these individuals for their service and wish them well in their future endeavors.

District 30 Budget Approved

The board held our annually required budget hearing and officially approved our 2017-2018 District 30 budget.

This year’s operating budget includes $23,980,306 revenues and $24,384,544 in expenditures, which represents a deficit operating budget of $404,238. For the next few years, our administrative team will generate thoughtful cost-saving measures to maintain our planned, controlled deficit budget. I look forward to meeting with faculty from each building to review our current budget and to share information on the new Evidence-Based Funding Model for the State of Illinois.

Dear District 30 Parents and Community:

The 2017-2018 school year promises to be an incredible year! On behalf of the entire District 30 Board of Education and staff, I extend a warm welcome to all within our District 30 Family. District 30 exists to create a community that craves learning, fosters resiliency, and cares deeply for every child. I have lived in District 30 for over a decade.

As I enter my third year serving as the Superintendent of District 30, I continue to cherish my opportunities to connect with and support our parents, students, and staff. I consider it a privilege to serve this district and our communities. We have an invested Board of Education, talented administrators and staff, and outstanding students.

I applaud our Board of Education for collaboratively setting goals that maintain focus on instructional practices and facilities that support child-centered learning and intellectual growth within our classrooms. There continues to be an emphasis on strengthening our children’s character through the Character Counts! organization, with its supportive programs and motivational contests. Our strategic work this year will also include exploring options for our food service through a bidding process. A parent survey related to food service will be sent out in the near future.

Our teachers have been busy throughout the summer preparing for the new school year, and we continue to make significant progress on the new Maple School. Our inclusive work has generated designs for the new school, which will be constructed on the field that is adjacent to the current Maple School. These plans will continue to evolve, and you can follow our progress on our facilities website: http://d30facilities.org. Ground breaking will occur this spring, and the goal remains to occupy the new Maple School in the fall of 2019.

We remain committed to providing the best possible educational experience for all students attending Maple, Wescott, and Willowbrook Schools. I invite each of you to remain connected and involved in your child’s education and to follow my Superintendent's Blog, follow me on Twitter, and to utilize D30's social media presence. Together we can look forward to seeing our children achieve, succeed, and grow!
