D30 Family 6/5 Weekly Update

D30 Family 6/5 Weekly Update

Dear District 30 Family,

I hope you are continuing to do well! In addition to touching base with the members of our family, this email is to share this week’s update from our Glenview/Northbrook COVID-19 Task Force.  Please note that this communication will be our last regular communication. Moving forward, we will continue to meet and will put out information as needed. I am continually thankful for the coordination and collaboration between our villages and leaders to help us navigate our current situation.

I have appreciated the kind reflections I received last night and today, as we all process these times together. I continue to be proud to live and serve our community, and am thankful for our commitment to foster an inclusive world. I know we can, and we will get through these challenging times together.

We value your partnership, and I celebrate all we have accomplished to shepherd our students through e-Learning! We also look forward to celebrating our year together with some celebrations and drive-through opportunities next week!

Shifting Focus

As an organization and community, our focus now turns to the fall. Preparation and planning will be essential as we look towards the “reopening of schools” next year. We learned a lot through the year and appreciated the feedback we obtained from our e-Learning surveys. We will continue to be agile in our approach as working committees are now beginning to analyze and discuss District 30’s Phased Operations Plan that aligns with the Governor’s Restore Illinois Plan. Part of this vital work will be to broadly survey parents and staff to gain critical input on those plans. Please stay tuned!

A few key reminders:

  • We continue to update our plans regarding how to best proceed educationally through the year:
    • Decisions that have been made:
      • Review a comprehensive list of decisions.
      • Text-A-Tip will remain available to grades six through eight throughout the summer. Please reinforce this fact to our Maple students.
      • Although remote work by twelve-month staff is encouraged and will continue, school and district offices will include in-person staff daily. They will be available for in-person meetings on an appointment basis (e.g., registration).
      • Wescott and Willowbrook’s Promotion Ceremony will be released on Monday, June 8, at 9:00 a.m.
      • Maple School’s Graduation Ceremony will be released on Monday, June 8, at 7:00 p.m. Enjoy the interactive format!
      • Staff look forward to seeing students at our drive-through end-of-the-year ceremonies: Wescott and Willowbrook will occur at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, and Maple School will incorporate a send-off and drive-through 8th-grade graduation celebration and photo opportunity on Wednesday, June 10. Staff will also say goodbye to 6th and 7th graders during our materials exchange on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 10 and Thursday, June 11.
    • Other issues for future consideration:
      • Updating our Remote Learning Guidelines for e-Learning should they be needed in the fall or for future snow days.
      • Our process for completing District 30’s Phased Operations Plan that aligns with the Governor’s Restore Illinois Plan.
  • Please keep checking our Parent School Closure and e-Learning FAQ. We will keep it updated and will add answers to important questions that arise as we all navigate our new, temporary normal.

Thank you all again for partnering with us through this challenging time. Once again, you have reinforced how lucky we are to serve this community! As we all continue to navigate the stresses of this time, my greatest hope is that we continue to be kind to one another. We wish you a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

Dr. Brian K. Wegley
