District 30 NEWS:  Half-Day, School Improvement Day is on September 28

Maple, Wescott, and Willowbrook Schools Welcomed 1,199 Students to the 2018-2019 School Year!

School Improvement Day to Focus on Staff Development

 

While the kids get to go home and play, the teachers will stay…

 

On Friday, September 28, there will be a half-day of school for students. Maple School students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m., and Wescott and Willowbrook School students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m.

 

Beginning at 12:45 p.m., the faculty will be attending various workshops in the areas of reading, report cards, goal setting, NWEA MAP data, Illinois Learning Standards, world language, and more. Elementary sessions will take place at Willowbrook School, which the Middle school activities will be at Maple School.

 

These staff development activities are coordinated by Learning Enhancement Coordinator Nadine Lee, with Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Melissa Hirsch.

As anyone driving down Northbrook's Sherman Drive can plainly observe, significant progress continues to be made on the "future innovative, flexible, and state-of-the-art Maple School!"

           

Like any proud parent, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Wegley is paying close attention to watching the new Maple School grow and evolve! Since the groundbreaking that took place on April 5, he has been taking Wednesday morning tours to view the building's progress.

Thanks to the outstanding efforts of ARCON Architects and Nicholas & Associates Construction, District 30 remains on track to occupy the new Maple School in the fall of 2019.

           

Dr. Wegley also noted that the design and construction effort of the school is being aided by the partnership of the La Salceda del Norte community members, who have allowed the district to utilize their water detention area, Wintrust Bank who has provided office space for the District Office at a discounted rate at Northview Community Bank, and District 225 which has provided contractor parking and supported a needed land swap.

           

Board Meets for Budget Hearing on September 20

 

The Board of Education held the annual public budget hearing and a business meeting on September 20. Highlights included the 2018-9 budget hearing, spring MAP report & PARCC results with Assistant Superintendent Dr. Melissa Hirsch, the opening of school report, Character Counts! and Northern Suburban Special Education District (NSSED) updates!

Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley Welcomes Julie Bezanes to the District 30 Family!

           

On September 17, Julie Bezanes assumed her role as the interim Administrative Assistant to Northbrook/Glenview School District 30’s Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Brian K. Wegley. Ms. Bezanes has a Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management Information Systems and a Master’s Degree in School Business Management. For the past two years, she has served as the Executive Assistant to the Associate Principal of Administrative Services at Glenbrook South High School. She has also served in Glenbrook 225’s District Office within the Business Office and organized the board of education meeting packets.

          

"The District 30 staff warmly welcomes Julie Bezanes to the family! I have every confidence that she will be an outstanding addition to District 30 as she joins the District Office staff to help us continue to serve this wonderful district at a high level,” stated Dr. Brian Wegley.
