New Teacher Orientation Days Kick-off Held on August 8

New Teacher Orientation Days Run from August 8-10

"The first day of school is the most important day of the school year. What effective teachers do on the first day of school will determine the success of the class." - Harry Wong (2009) from "The First Day of School"

On August 8, new teachers were warmly welcomed to New Teacher Orientation Days by Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Melissa Hirsch, Learning Enhancement Coordinator, Nadine Lee, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, Dale Falk, Director of Educational Technology, Andy Kohl, and Principals: Dr. Nate Carter, Betty Holzkopf, Dr. Chris Brown, and Scott Carlson. The teachers will be attending workshops August 8-10, to familiarize them with district philosophies, their professional development mentors and instruction, book recommendations, and more. Dr. Melissa Hirsch and Nadine Lee will be leading the groups.

Dr. Wegley introduced the staff to District 30's Echo, which emphasizes that "District 30 exists to create a community that craves learning, fosters resiliency, and cares deeply for each child." "We honor childhood and foster intellectual, physical, and social-emotional growth." "We value lifelong learning, relationships and collegiality, and child-centric practices." #d30learns
