Welcome to Mr. Dale Falk - New Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations

Welcome to District 30 Mr. Dale Falk, new Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations.

On January 28, District 30's Board of Education appointed Mr. Dale Falk as the new Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations. On July 1, he replaced Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, Mr. Christopher Young, who retired on June 29, after serving District 30 with distinction for the past twenty-one years.

Dr. Wegley reflected on Chris's career, he shared, "Chris has served our district with distinction, and he will be sorely missed. Looking ahead and planning for a time of transition, the district employed a comprehensive interview process to identify his successor."

As Dr. Wegley announced District 30's next assistant superintendent, he shared, "It is with enthusiasm that I announce Mr. Dale Falk as our next Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations. Mr. Falk demonstrates incredible knowledge in the area of school business. He is a thoughtful and calm individual. His references describe him as an ethical, well-prepared, thorough, and strategic leader. His current superintendent shared that his work has been outstanding! She also highlighted that he is trusted implicitly.”

Mr. Falk has served as District 57's Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations in Mount Prospect for the last ten years. Between 1998 and 2005, he served as the Director of Business Services, Comptroller, Accounting Supervisor and Treasury Clerk within Township High School District 214. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in mathematics, and is certified in School Business Management.

Mr. Falk has successfully performed all annual budgetary functions including developing the budget, establishing the tax levy, and overseeing all systems encompassing payroll, purchasing, and insurance. In addition, he currently provides direct oversight of transportation, and buildings and grounds. He has led several successful negotiations and significant construction efforts during his tenure in District 57. Upon accepting this important District 30 position,

Mr. Falk said, "I consider it an honor and privilege to have this opportunity to work for District 30. While I will miss working with the wonderful people of District 57, I look forward to forming new relationships and supporting District 30's educational goals.

Dr. Wegley concluded, “He has proven to be an outstanding individual who will continue the tradition of an educationally driven finance department within District 30.”

Board Honors Chris Young at June Board Meeting

On June 16, the Board of Education honored Chris Young for his 22 years of dedicated service to District 30 schools. Mr. Young retired from District 30 on June 30, and Mr. Dale Falk assumed the position of Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, as of July 1.

At the meeting, President Chuck Gitles presented him with gifts, thanked him, and stated that he would "miss him tremendously."

Board Vice President, Dr. Kenneth Spero wished Mr. Young "all the best in retirement," adding that "Mr. Young always came prepared, created phenomenal budgets, successful audits, and provided excellent guidance to the Board from his 22 years of experience."

"He has been instrumental in the Board's understanding of the finances and has continually kept the District financially stable," concluded Dr. Spero.

Member Elizabeth Shabelman shared that she appreciated Mr. Young's wise counsel; and member Nancy Artz thanked him for his patient explanations, thanking him for all that he accomplished for District 30.

Member Fred Sloneker commented that he will miss Mr. Young's calm demeanor and sense of humor.

"I enjoyed having Chris here at the table with the Board," he said.

Member Ursula Sedlak thanked Mr. Young for his patience and kindness.

"I will miss you Chris!" she added.

Mr. Young thanked the Board and expressed his gratitude for the wonderful Boards that he has worked with over the years.

"The Board has been truly professional and they do what is in the best interest of children.  This has been a career for me, not a job. I have had a lot of fun and have had incredible experiences at District 30," said Mr. Young.

Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley thanked Mr. Young, adding that he is loved by the entire team and will be greatly missed.
